DAY two at Royal Ascot and the day a lot of
people are really looking forward to, myself included, because the Prince of
Wales’s Stakes is the big race of the day.
This is going to be a serious race. You have the
likes of Crystal Ocean, Magical and Sea Of Class in there, not to mention the
horses from France (Waldgeist) and Japan (Deirdre).
I’ll be watching very closely and hopefully we
can pick out a few winners together.
Kimari won by 15 lengths on her debut and I tell you what that takes some doing in any race. She’s going to be a seriously tough filly to beat but I think we can do that with Final Song. As you know, I work for her trainer Saeed Bin Suroor and Final Song’s always shown she’s a really good filly. She was a good winner over course and distance on debut and I think she’ll improve for her debut run too. I like her a lot and Oisin Murphy, who rode her on debut, was a big fan of hers too.
I’m not surprised in the slightest that Ryan
Moore is on Norway as I think he has the best form in the race. He ran in the
Derby last time and that’s always the best race of the season for horses like
him in terms of form coming here.
This is going to be a fantastic horse race. You’ve got some of the top horses running here and I can’t wait to see it. I’m getting a lot of positive vibes about Sea Of Class coming into this race. She was only just beaten by Enable in the Arc last year and if Enable was in this race what price would she be? It’s her first run of the season but that doesn’t bother me at all. She had to miss the Middleton Stakes at York but she’s had an extra couple of weeks being prepped for this and she’s had a chance to stretch her legs on the grass in Newmarket after the race. I like her.
Where do you start with this race? I think this
is one of the toughest races of the week. Stoutey has been positive in the
build up to this about Rawdaa, which you always take note of, and Pretty Baby
has been very progressive over shorter. However, the one I’m siding with is I
Can Fly. She’s as tough as old boots and she’s the sort of filly I really love.
I’ll be watching this race particularly closely
as my son little Cieren is riding Crazy Horse for George Baker. He’s got a
tough task on his hands, but little Cieren is very positive about him so I hope
he runs really well. The one he’ll have to beat though is Key Victory. The boys
at Charlie Appleby’s really like this horse and he comes out well on the
figures. He’s been gelded and is dropping in trip and I think he’s got a
serious chance. Don’t leave Seniority out of your thinking either. Ryan Moore
rides him and, with the Queen being the owner, he should be spot on.
Temple Of Heaven’s form is head and shoulders
above everything else in this race, domestically anyway. It’s hard to weigh up
what Wesley Ward’s horse Foolish Humor achieved on her debut but he’s always
dangerous. Little Cieren rides Bill Neigh and is positive about him, but he has
to step up a lot from his first run.
